Art belongs to everyone, and every town has a story to tell. In Gulfport, that story has always included the gecko! The Gulfport Gecko Project is a free community art initiative bringing mini gecko murals to homes and businesses across Gulfport, celebrating the city’s most iconic symbol while connecting neighbors through creativity.

The Gecko has become a beloved emblem of Gulfport, seen in its festivals, artwork, and even the town’s statue centerpiece. With the Gulfport Gecko Project, ArtFluent Creatives is turning that symbol into a living piece of community art. Residents can sign up to receive a free hand-painted gecko mural, designed to bring joy, pride, and personality to their home or business.
Our Mission
ArtFluent Creatives has launched community mural programs across Florida—from the Palm Harbor Palm Tree Project to driveway murals and most recently the statewide Love Thy Neighbor Project. Each of these efforts carries the same mission: to share art with the community, make creativity accessible to everyone, and support emerging artists by connecting them with the neighborhoods they serve.​
​​​Meet the Artist
This project will be led by Gulfport-based artist Zac “Lyko” Schafer, one of the featured artists of the Love Thy Neighbor Project. Lyko’s bold, colorful style brings energy and character to every wall, and through the Gecko Project he’ll be connecting directly with Gulfport residents, one mural at a time. Zac has a core belief that art makes people pause to "feel" and he intends on spreading the good feels through this beautiful town.

​How It Works

Gulfport residents can sign up for free to have a gecko mural painted.

Each mural will be similar in design, but can be customized via different colors & will be created by the artist, Zac, on-site.

While we’ll do our best to honor your color and style preferences, final design, placement, and size will be up to the artist’s discretion.

THIS PROJECT IS FREE to Gulfport residents. Donations are welcomed and greatly appreciated and Zac create as many of these beautiful mini-murals as possible.​

Examples of our
Gecko Design
Zac is excited to add custom touches to each gecko if the homeowner desires. We will happily change colors of the gecko to match home exterior or the resident's personality.

Most Gecko Mini-Murals will be appx 12' x 12" in size and will be painted on the exteriors of people's homes.
